LPI Internship

Location of Internship

The internship will be based in Houston, Texas, with participants stationed at either the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) or the NASA Johnson Space Center.

Financial Rewards

  • Financial Support: $8,220
    • Includes internship stipend, travel expenses, housing, and cost of living expenses
  • Funding Source: NASA’s Support for Planetary Sample Science

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Undergraduate students with a minimum of 50 semester hours of credit are eligible.
  • While preference is given to majors in physical or natural science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics, all eligible students will be considered.
  • The internship is open to both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.

LPI Internship Requirements:

  • Complete all application forms online.
  • Submission of at least two reference letters (maximum of 3).
  • Official transcripts are required for program qualification.
  • Foreign nationals must provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following:
    • Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score
    • A letter from a professor in the English department confirming sufficient spoken and written English language skills.
